Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night

Last week in second grade we read Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night. The students had the opportunity to share some personal camping experiences with their classmates. Their creative writing stories were about going on a campout and they described what they may hear, smell, see, feel, and taste.

In computer class the students used Kidspiration to design a web about their ultimate pet.

The students in 2B designed their very own constellations!

We learned a campfire song we wanted to share with you.

Exploring Space

Last week our students had a BLAST learning about space! Our Reading Street story was Exploring Space, and the students enjoyed working in centers together. Their creative writing stories turned out so cute as they wrote about what they would do if they were an astronaut in space. They made an astronaut and used cra-pas on black paper so that their illustrations really popped!

In the other centers the students colored the planets and put them in order from the sun. They went to the listening center on the Ipads and played games on Spelling City with their weekly spelling words. They even got to take a practice test. They really enjoyed playing the different math games on NASA Kids.

A few groups of students came up with their own sayings to help them remember the order of the planets. They had the opportunity to share it with the whole class. These students had a lot of fun with this activity!

2B Acolytes

Angelo, John, Isabella, Jack, Tristen, and Eamon were acolytes.

Tristen held the flag for the pledge during chapel.

Everyone did a great job being an acolyte!
